Atari / Obsidian,
I humbly ask that you stop putting your users through this emotional rollercoaster. If you are unsure about making this upcomming deadline, please push the release of the toolset even further.
We (your fans) have been patient and enthusiastic, but pulling the rug out from under us so close to the release of the toolset is leaving everyone extremenly bitter.
You can already hear the sentiments in the post about how your users are becomming less excited about the release of NWN2. I'm sure that I don't need to tell you that your customers should be getting more excited, not less. Those users who have made the pre-order purchase are becomming increasingly jaded about their initial investment in your product.
I encourage you to do whatever it takes to get your communication syncronized between Arari and Obsidian as well as making certain that whetever "deadline" you post for your beloved toolset, it is one that is actually attainable.
Take this time to step back a moment and realistically evaluate what can be done and how soon it can be done. I know that "crunch time" can cause tunnel vision, I've been there on some private projects myself. But we all must remember to take a short break and try to look at things objectively. If we're incapable of doing so, then we must have some one else look for us.
The kid gloves are off, guys; it's time for Obsidian and Atari to remind us what has kept them in the business of making video games for so long. This latest showing isn't a good demonstration of what your companies are capable of and I (we) encourage you to do better. _________________ ~EtherDragon Builder: Thaates.net Member: WarCry Secret PW Project (NWN2) |

How so? You still get NwN2 and you still get the toolset before others *fingers crossed*. Sure it's a delay, but it's not the end of the world. I understand it's disappointing (there are a lot of us here at BioWare feeling the disappointment like the rest of you), but it is only a delay. And to the poster who seemed worried NwN2 might ship with bugs.... yeah, good thing our NwN1 was bug free when we shipped it, right?
I feel suckered too. It's not the fact that the game or the pre-release toolset is getting delayed mind you. It's the entire amateurish nature surrounding all of this. I don't really mind waiting for competent people who made miscalculations. But, I can only suffer fools so much. You can't tell me you don't feel Atari is being really sloppy here, can you?
The reason I feel suckered into making a pre-release order is because this feels like a bait and switch. Yes, I probably will get the toolset a month before the game. And, yes, I probably will get the game eventually. But, still, when I got the pre-order I wasn't expecting the ETA to be so liquid. And, more importantly, I wasn't expecting to be so disrespectfully jerked around like this.
I'm sorry if I sound a bit irate here but I am getting rather ticked at this amateurish behavior. Honestly, if I didn't know Atari was a reputable company, I would be suspicious this was all some con game. Sure, release dates get pushed back. Sometimes as much as a dozen times. And sometimes software gets released with bugs. Sometimes bad, hard drive formatting bugs. But the sloppy work surrounding everything involved in this promotion from communication to respect sure takes the cake as far as anything I can remember.
And, yes, I'm still buying the game and getting the toolset as soon as I can. But, I'm going to think twice before committing myself to considering getting an Atari published game anytime in the near future. _________________ Vie for glory, power, and wealth as a citizen of the city of Proskur. I guess to sum up my feelings, I don't feel Atari respects it customers. That, and I have serious doubts now about the quality of NWN2 upon release (or even a year after release) considering how sloppy this menial task was performed. _________________ Vie for glory, power, and wealth as a citizen of the city of Proskur. Well 4 days was one thing, but almost a full 2 weeks? Good way to make alot of people mad. Worse yet you're altering a timer, twice now. What's the point of a timer if it doesnt hit 0 consistantly?
Guess I'll just be back in 14 days...
Seriously this is a touch anoiying though. _________________ If it looks like a chicken, and it acts like a chicken, it's not a duck. |

Nova Scotia, Canada. Atlantic Time Zone.
Got a buddy in Georgia and a buddy in Central time getting the same thing, minus the time zone difference. |

I am located in Hawaii and I am seeing 9 days now. I hope its just a bug! I think people should calm down a little about this mini-fiasco: atari is not the developer of the game, Obsidian is, so issues with atari's web site go on ataris back, and they are you know, mere marketting droids not leet programmers. If the game *is* being delayed, it's because they have chosen to ship a quality product. We should applaud them on this. |

I'm in US East time, and others in US East also seem to still have the 3 hours and a bit time. I hope it's not an error. |

I'm all for delays for a quality product. However, when it's this many delays that are conducted so poorly, I just feel like a fool. They could at least tell us sometime before the ETA. _________________ Vie for glory, power, and wealth as a citizen of the city of Proskur. Its not a bug, read back you'll see some of the PR people saying it has in fact been delayed another 9 days. |

I'm in Georgia too. 9 Days. This is lame. Not world ending, just lame. Seems like Atari is utterly incapable of getting its crap together. I'm glad (well, hoping) that Bioware and Obsidian won't be dealing with those chuckleheads in the future... |
