I did the D2D download. Went to patch the game and it stalls out at 63% with the following message.
An incorrect version of the file was found on your system.
The update was unable to complete, since the file contents were incorrect.
C:\Program Files\Atari\Neverwinter Nights 2\nwn2main.exe
File Size: 10186752
File CheckSum: 332c4b6369eff6e5f3c14dbaf5e49414
Get the critical rebuild.
The patch has been aborted
The link goes to a dead page.
Also Atari doesn't have any support listed for NWN 2 that I could find. |

From what I've read on other net forums, games downloaded from D2D have to be patched via D2D. They make their own versions of the patches, or something, and people have complained about waiting much longer for their game to be patched from D2D.
Maybe the devs or Atari can clarify this?
Never used D2D myself because it's America only - and after reading about this separate patches business, I'm not sure I'd want to use it either. |

D2D is claiming they're compatible with the regular patches. Apparently they're wrong. |

Not according to NW Vault's D2D FAQ:

Direct2Drive NWN2 Digital Download FAQ [ Comment ] Print News | Mail News | Category: NWN2 - Official News In case you don't know, Neverwinter Nights 2 is available as a digital download off Direct2Drive and pre-loading has already begun. There have been some concerns about whether the digital version will be compatible with the retail version. I contacted Chris Anderson, Product manager for their Digital retail division and he assured me several times that any patches that are available for the retail version will be exactly the same as the digital version. We have a FAQ entry for his answers regarding some questions that users might have. Here they are:
Q: Will official patches for Neverwinter Nights 2 work with my Direct2Drive version of the game? A: Absolutely. All official patches will work with your Direct2Drive games.
Q: Where can I get official patches for my downloaded game and are they available at the same time as retail copies? A: You can download the patches for the game from the publisher's website, third party sites like FilePlanet, or from the "Patches" section on Direct2Drive. They are available immediately upon release from the publisher and are the same as the retail versions.
Q: How does the preload work? A: Preloading lets you buy and download the game now, before its officially released to the public. That means that you can be playing the new game literally minutes after it is released, instead of having to get in your car and drive to the store, or wait for it to download after its been officially released. Its the fastest and most convenient way to get the new release game titles you want the moment they are available to the public.
Q: Do I have to use the Download Manager? A: We recommend using the Download Manager since its optimized for our systems (for example, it will automatically select the fastest server available when you request your download, and will let you pick up where you left off if there is an interruption in your download). There is NO spyware, adware or other malware whatsoever - its purely to make downloading our games the best possible experience for you.
Q: What happens if my computer crashes or I want to reinstall on another computer? A: We strive to make your experience owning downloaded titles as good as or better than getting the boxed versions from the store. Each title may be installed on multiple machines, and we never charge you "download insurance" or any other lame attempts to get more money out of you like some of our competitors. Once you buy it, it stays there for you in your Account page on Direct2Drive and you can re-download at any time. To avoid abuse, we do limit the number of activations per title according to the publisher's request, but rest assured if you for whatever reason need to obtain additional legitimate activations our customer support team is ready, willing and able to help you out! |

I had the same problem with my NWN1 Diamond edition. When ever I tried to update from 1.66 to 1.67 I got the same error message. Try downloading the critical rebuild and installing that, it worked for me. _________________ The Exile (NWN2) Lanterna (NWN2) |

I don't even know what to say. If I don't get to play NWN2 tonite because of the lack of some critical rebuild being posted, I am going to be VERY disappointed. I mean, I know whining doesn't do anything, but is it too much to ask that things work smoothly for once? |

Communication AND a free $10, that's pretty cool. It's a pity it costs $50 to dl though. |

I just got the same response and the $10 credit. Everyone that has the D2D version needs to open a support ticket at D2D so they get the credit as well. |

They stated on the webite the patches would work, this is untrue and they have now removed that statement, your best bet is to request a refund due to false information posted on thier website or play it at version 1.0 with all the bugs. |
