This post is for people who don't want to play NWN2 as a party game and hate the forced NPCs:
You can deactivate them completely so they won't get in your way, and you can have the solo/no henchmen feel.
1) Turn puppet mode to ON. This will deactivate their AI.
2) Turn everything else in their behavior tab to OFF.
3) Set their 'distance from leader' to FAR. This makes them hang back and stay so completely out of your way you won't even see them on your screen if you play zoomed in.
4) Don't worry about them. Forced NPCs cannot die. Really - the darn little pests are completely immortal. When they get 'killed', they will immediately spring back to life at 1 hp as soon as you win the current battle.
5) You may need to set the game difficulty slider to 'Easy' to get around the attempted forced party play as far as staying alive as a solo player.
I am somewhat of an expert at messing around with the features provided in game programs to make the program do what I want as far as gameplay style.
I hope this helps other RPGers out there who share my "I fight alone!" mentality. _________________ Paladin/Jedi, disciple of Yoda and Oghma/Deneir/Milil, the Holy Trinity |

Arkan, it's not a matter of 'pay', it's a matter of enjoying myself with the programs I have available. _________________ Paladin/Jedi, disciple of Yoda and Oghma/Deneir/Milil, the Holy Trinity |

Of course, once you reach Neverwinter, you can just leave pretty much everyone at the Inn. |

Dalreese, I know, but this is letting me enjoy the first half of Act I before ever getting to Neverwinter.
Also, please answer a question for me: Will NPCs with party-joining offers after I get to Neverwinter give me a dialogue option that says 'NO, get lost!' ? _________________ Paladin/Jedi, disciple of Yoda and Oghma/Deneir/Milil, the Holy Trinity |

No, but once they join your party you can leave them behind at the tavern. You will lose out on thier side quests if you do that however, and in some situations you may be required to have someone in the party. _________________ Sometimes I wonder why I even bother with my 2 cents. Don't forget, you can right-click and hold on the ground, and send a brodcast command to all telling them to stand their ground. Also, put them in stealth, and what the heck, make them track! Use them as radar to keep track of the enemy! This slows them down, if they end up moving again. _________________ "When you have excluded the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."

Are you sure it's NwN2 that you wanted to play?
Maybe you really meant to buy this:

That's just too pompous to be anything short of hilarious! I dig your style. You remind me so much of this main character:

Thanks BelgarathMTH. Just ignore the critisizing asshats; you've provided one method of playing solo if anyone so wishes. It seems sometimes that the fanbois are so brown from the neck up they can't do anything but put people down with a different and valid point of view. Thanks, again! |

Remember in BG2 when Death really meant Death?
Whats with all this knocked out crap? It feels like some kiddie game in this respect.
Considering you can't so what used to be simple things, with this new GUI... it's little things all adding up.
Not able to drag and drop here or there.... Clicking here or there does nothing or the old function is removed or replaced with something useless.
The old GUI is more familiar... but this GUI sucks. Only one way to do what you want to do now. No flexibility. |

Agreed, pretty dumb OC.
Even the NPC's are forced in MP, so the battles are WAY too easy, compounded by no fog of war in dungeons, RESPAWN when you die, so you will ALWAYS kill the boss!
I want the NPC's GONE, I want that extra XP for me and my REAL LIFE FRIENDS.

I'm really not fond of having to continue to reload everytime one of my party member dies, especially if i'm blasting AE spells and don't care about them.
I agree the party members make the game feel too easy at times but at other times, there's spots that are really difficult without them. Plus they add a depth to the story and they're well developed characters. Not using them i'ld miss out on that, i could always replay the game with different party combinations, including none.
Still it annoys me how easy the game gets when you're going through not hard areas as a wizard just walking around letting your party kill everything. It'ld be much more fun if they toned that down some and balanced the hard areas where you're lucky to get out alive. The Dynamic is in such extremes that carrying around your party makes 50% of the game super easy, and 50% of the game is really hard with them.
Then again at the time i hadn't fixed fireburst so i kept AEing myself with a spell that's supposed to EXCLUDE me so maybe those tough spots would have been easier. |
