This from another thread on the same subject that was stickied. I deleted the thread as this is the same thing, so... I know it is already addressed, but here it is anyways... It is the most step by step and simple explanation I saw to date:

Alright, try this:
1) Run regedit
2) Go to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Obsidian \ NWN 2 \ Neverwinter folder.
3) Now you should see a "Version" registry key there to your right.
4) Double-click that and make the version number "1.00" instead of ".95".
5) Close regedit, and try running the updater again. _________________ That's BioMod, not BioWare. As such, I do not represent the views of BioWare. SPOON! Edited By EvilTypeGuy on 11/05/06 17:43

Just wondering if any of you DEVs have looked into this issue. Seems other peeps are having a problem with checksum error on VO.zip file and the patcher aborting.
Can you please:
a) provide us a clean VO.ZIP file b) give us a workaround so that we can be patched to current.
I am impressed with the game, notwithstanding the problems with camera/movement and poor AI. But I am concerned at the sloppiness of the patching process and the lack of customer support dealing with it.
Please drop in on this thread and let us know when we can expect to be patched and current.
Thanks. |

Hi
i initially had this problem (Scandinavian Retail DVD) however it was solved by reinstalling the game, i traced it to the game attempting to update from the basic retail version from the installer, it seemed like it could not locate a version number in the registry and defaulted to 0.95, i just uninstalled the game and installed it, letting the installer complete and ran the update process from the launcher instead, it then reported version 1.00 and from there, it works flawlessly now. |

Hi,
1) Have the NWN2 LE version--DVD-Rom version
2) Had the preorder beta tool set installed
3) Unsure about this one
4) I have a power user account--can't patch the game--won't let me
My brother is the administrator and he installed the game but I use a power user account in XP. The problem is that the game was installed when the beta tool set was still in the system. The game ran for about a week until today (Nov 9). Now it doesn't run and I got an message saying it couldn't find the original disc/can't authenticate it--the disc is in the drive, is very bought and very legit. The launcher program also claimed the game was Version 0.95 when it is really Version 1.02. I think it has to do with the beta tool set being stuck at 0.95 though and not being able to acknowledge the complete product. Also, if I'm switched to administrator status--the game runs and acknowledges the 1.02, but when put back to power user, I get the original disc/authenticate message. Any help would be appreciated. I've emailed Atari support about this also
Thank you

Just wanted to let people know that the suggested fix as described didn't work, but it did work when I used '1.01' instead of '1.00' in the registry fix. Was unable to patch to 1.02 after the initial patch when I first installed NWN2, but this did the trick; no problems with VO.zip either. |

Have a friend who expienced this same issue (he does not do forums...poor sucker;)
Anyway - The plan of puttng the DVD contents on the hard rive worked out good for him!
His copy is: DVD - US Edition, no beta testing.
Also - just to note this is the second Atari game to do this to him (it reboots the PC in the middle of the install..wierd)
Anyway - I do believe he needs to update the firmware for his DVD/CDRW drive.
Thanks -

Though i already used it once. This is way to much hassel to just play a game. grmpfs... |

Slightly different problem here; my game runs perfectly, but I can't patch.
I run the updater and get a "system cannot find specified file" error and it aborts. I go to the support website and it says if you're having problems with the updater, download and install an updated version of the updater, which should work better. The updater update doesn't work though! I get some kind of illegal instruction error. |

Well this is the error I get after I downloaded the Patch via the updater. I did not modify my Game. So why in Hell does this damn updater tell me this sh***
I've reinstalled the game several times! This stupid updater downloads the zip patch every time I click on update! Why can't it just use the zip file it loaded before?! Who progged this?
Man I want a zip file which contains the files that were patched, and copy them over the old files. Why is that so hard?!
And on Atari.com you cannot load the patch, because no downloads exist for NWN2. Huh??? Man very clever!
As you can see above, I'm using the german DVD Version of the game. And so is the patch the updater loads!!
EDIT: Link found... hope this will help, if not, EDIT 2!
