Since many people have problems with patching and Obsidian's patcher needs to go offline and you cannot freely decide which version to upgrade to I made my own patcher...
Description:
NWN2Patcher by tnt220
This patcher will let you patch you NWN2 commpletely offline as long as you have downloaded one or more of the patches beforehand. See this thread Click Here
How to use
Make sure that NWN2 is not running before proceeding...
Download one of the patches normally used with the built in nwupdate.exe usually called something like
nwn2_pc_english_from100788_to102809.zip
Unzip the file into the nwn2 installation directory, the above shown file will likely contain a file called
nwn2_pc_english_from100788_to102809.rtp . The rtp file MUST be in the nwn2 installation directory.
Now place my patcher in the nwn2installation directory also (it only works from there)and run it..
as with the nwupdate.exe you will still need app. 6GB of free space to patch, but shouldwith mine be able to choose where to take it from (and not just the drive where nwn2 is installed)
Select a patch file and optional temp directory with 6 GB free space (dafault is the nwn2 installation directory press patch..
It may take some time to apply the patch, depending on your system. You will be notified upon success or failure by a messagebox.
DISCLAIMER:
You MUST KNOW which version of NWN2 you have (you can see it in the launch window of NWN2). patching with the wrong RTP file may damage your NNW2 installation (usually nothing a reinstall cannot fix).
I am NOT responsible if you have to reinstall NWN2 after using this (I updated my NWN2 3 times with this utility and had no problems with it)
You will get a patch successfull if the patch succeeded and an error if not. I cannot tell you what went wrong as I have no documentation to the patch software Obsidian use.
I cannot give you a progress indicator as I have no documentation to the patch software Obsidian use.
I cannot do much else with this patcher as I don't have the software for it, I only used what I could figure out from looking at the files in the NWN2 directory.

Thank you so much!!! Works great, my only problem was that I didn't use the patcher in a different folder, and now I dont know which files to delete. Aside from that, you are a godsend! |

You're welcome and it shouldn't be necessary to delete any files. Obsidian also use the NWN2 folder for temp storage.

Thanks for the offline patch solution!
A straight patch from 1.00 to 1.01 is exactly what I want. I'm getting game crashes with anything but v1.00. Was fine with 1.01 before the dreaded 1.02 patch came along, and even the rollback 1.01 didn't help.
Will try patching when I get home from work, and see if it helps.

I still can't believe they aren't offering stand alone patches. I mean, really, requiring us to have internet on the computer we play our games is down right retarded. Yeah, I have a fast connection in my house, but I don't want to run anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-etc while I'm playing my games to save processing speed. Kind of retarded that we are being forced to use the in-game patcher.
Anyway, glad to see someone is looking out for us all. |

Just thought that I should mention, better late than never, that if you are getting CRC errors or incorrect file versions on individual files (eg. nwloader.exe) while patching with nwupdate it is most likely that my patcher will fail too since it uses the same patching routine as nwupdate except that mine does not ask the servers for version numbers etc.
My apologies to those of you who may have wasted time because you thought my patcher could fix the crc errors.
My patcher should still rid you of the nwn2_pc_ ... .txt not found etc.

Guess the first two aren't needed? I'm sitting at 1.00 but the first two patches don't seem to be up anymore. Will your patcher work if I try to patch with the "1.00.788 to 1.02.809" version? Edited By TheOtherChosen on 11/13/06 20:14 |

yes it should work. actually 1.00 is the same as 1.00.788, Obsidian just didn't add the 788 on the first patch they posted

I must be missing a step. According to my main game menu, my version is 1.00 (788), I download the patch (100788 to 102809) and unzipped it into c:\program files\Atari\Neverwinter Nights 2 and copied the NWN2Patcher to the same place but got a "Patch Failed" message. Am I doing something wrong? |

Same here.
But I did get to patch my install, by just running the updater.
It'll say cannot connect/no connection detected (I can't remember) but it'll find the 1.0 to 1.02 zip file inside your install directory and patch the game. |

Sorry, I don't have anywhere with enough bandwidth/space to host the .rtp files. The links I have posted to the zip fiels are actually the official servers.
As for the update failed, I cannot tell why it fails. I call the patch routine that Obsidian also uses but as I do not have the documentation for the routine I cannot translate the feedback it gives me into anything better than a failed or success (based on testing on my own machines).
If you have internet available I'd recommend you to use the nwupdate first always with one of the downloadable zip files or to let the nwupdate download it.
If you don't have internet then you might be stuck with my patcher and the unzipped downloadable patches.
I know I'm not being very helpful here (it not because I dont want to), but I hope that the patcher will at least be able to help some of you.
Again if you get crc errors with the normal updater my patcher will most likely fail also as the problem is something else.
On another note I posted my patch program on nwvault as that link might be a bit more permament.. It's located NWVault link to patcher
