AMD 3400+
2GB
7600 GT PCIe

Anyway I found a nice thing to inprove fps in nvidia cards.

When I got the game I was running on the 91.47 Drivers and if I turned off shadows and water reflections i got about 30-40 fps all the time.

But when I heard about the "new and better" expecially NWN2 made nvidia driver(93.71) I jumped on it thinking it would give me a big boost.

The thing was that after I installed the new driver I installed the 1.01 patch, so when I loaded the game and saw that I was running now at 18-25 fps(I thought heck it must be the new patch, thats all).

So like every1 else I tryed all the possible fixes(turning vsync off and so forth) never actually thinking that it was the driver not the patch the was the prob.

So a couple of minutes ago I said "what the heck" and rerolled back to my older driver and BOOM 30-40 FPS.

So some of you guys haveing probs with low FPS try going back to an earlier driver and see what happens.

The Nvidia profile points to the wrong .exe file... change it and that will fix your low fps problems with the new patch - worked for me.

Didnt for me, heck with the older driver I didnt even HAVE a profile for NWN2, i used everything on default and still got 30-40 fps.

Could you post this in the Tech Support forum as well. Seems like a worthwhile workaround.

The problem with the low FPS isnt something (bug related) its because the graphics engine was never optimised.

I looked over the patch notes,(1.03) and theres nothing in there about optimising the engine, the only graphics related thing your getting is AA.

I still can't believe an A-list game can be released in 2006 without antialiasing. Is this the 20th century or something?

LOOK AGAIN, @)(#&@#&@&!&!!!

Quote: • Graphics Optimizations: A number of new graphics optimizations have been added:
o Anti-Aliasing Support: Anti-aliasing is now supported and can be enabled in the Options Menu. Please note: This could significantly affect frame rate, depending on your hardware.
o Shadow Rendering: Shadow rendering speed has been improved.
o Tree Rendering: Speed improvements to the rendering of trees.
o Water Rendering: Speed improvements to how water is rendered by the engine.

I know what you mean, and AA can actually make your FPS more stable(without them jumping around so much).

Some poeple told be they were getting FPS as high as 50 and as low as 7, well thats not normal, if the engine was in optimal condition (which should have included AA ans real AF) then the jump in FPS shouldnt be more then 10fps + or -.

Most people that i know dont have a prob with FPS when they are out in the wild.

They get those abyssal FPS in NW city , where if i remember corectly there arent alot of trees.

And since i said i turn water reflections OFF and shadows, well improved rendering to them wont really make any diff , now would it?

I'm sure visceral's page covers it all, but there's a link to framerate fixes (particularly for Nvidia users) in my sig.

Even with those "off", water is still rendered, therefore improved water rendering would logically help. However, I suspect you might be quite right and the changes are only for reflections and refractions.

This engine is just very buggy for some.. Simple as that, if the patch improves performance then it would be great.. If not this will be considered one of the greatest graphic hogs/unoptemized games of all time.
SOme people are just getting downright horrid performance regardless of the game settings when their hardware is above recommended.. They play all their other games with the optimal performance as expected by their hardware... They have tweaked both the game and the systems themselves to high heavens and nothing has changed.. They have scanned for eveyr piece of virus, spyware, mal ware etc on their system.. They updated, defragged both hd and registry, cleaned files that were un-needed etc.. And still a performance problem JUST with this game... I know because I am one of these people, and I know a few other friends who are having these exact same problems regardless of settings...
Honestly hope the patch fixs these issues
