Subject says it all. I've played through the lawful watchman side (Pal 4 Bard 1 RDD10 DC 5), and now I intend to play again on the evil shadowy side of things. I saw a poster named Fidifensor (a play on Fidei Defensor by chance? =p) mention this build in a recent thread:

Rogue 5
Assassin 9
Shadow Thief of Amn 3
Neverwinter Nine 3

It would yield +12d6 sneak attack -- not to mention invisibility and HiPS, albeit at the cost of BAB. If this is possible it'd be awfully neat to try. I hope alluding to the watchman/SToA plot variations isn't spoiling anything, and if it is ... my bad .

I don't think you can do this in the story.. however your character concept sounds great. The character could act as a spy infiltrating the Neverwinter Nine and trying to influence them politically for the benefit of the Shadow Thieves.

Sorry, the only way you're getting this in the OC is by cheating. Both the NW9 and SToA require a certain feat, taking one path will prevent you from getting the other class's required feat. In other words, by following the Nine's path, you will not get the Shadow Thieves feat and vice verasa.

You want both, you'll have to console the others feat a la cheating.

Or perhaps named after the Holy avenger "Fedifensor" that was weilded by Boyd DeThalion in qa Dragon magazine module written.. oh I dont know..1000 years ago or something

I've always remembered that swords name.. and the character it was tied to for some reason.

Thanks Hsheltonjr, that's what I had assumed. If someone HAS somehow managed to get both epithet feats (and thus both classes) in the OC without cheating, ie, without the use of console commands such as givefeat, please let me know -- I'd be very interested to hear about it.

That's not how it happens. I ended the game with both feats. Granted I didn't get both classes, but I assume I could if I really wanted to.

If you take the evil path you'll get both feats. If you take the good path you'll only get the NW9 feat.

Yes, it was possible in the OC for me, without cheating. I took sort of a Chaotic Good approach to things, making a certain early game alliance, and later being called upon to serve the city. Your actions through the game will determine what becomes available to you.

Even though the Shadow Thieves are often considered Evil, the story is flexible enough for you to skirt the line, earn favor with the STs, and still act as borderline Good.

You don't have to take an evil path to get both feats. You have to work for the shadow thieves (working for the thieves or for the watch is more a matter of pretending to be lawful/chaotic than of good/evil imho) and later tell Nasher that you want to become a Neverwinter Nine. That's all.

I would think that an undercover ST in the Neverwinter Nine would be very, very valuable for their organization.

I guess I'm wrong. I never told Nasher I wanted to be a 9 after doing the Shadow Thieves. I kinda assumed he'ld laugh in your face. Sorry about the misinformation.
