As the title says: the Hot Fix for the 1.06 startup crash is available.
Please run your autoupdater.
While this fix only takes care of a problem some people have, it does increment your version number to 1.06.980. So, if you play MP, you will need to get this Hot Fix.
Please post here if you have any problems with this Hot Fix

Yes, if you got further problems try the Securom Technical FAQ:

I think Securom messed itself in the previous version, so now there will be more trouble unless users learn to clean their registry entries and directories.
That happened to me. Deleted all Securom info and worked perfectly...

Out of amazing coincidence, the very first time I had this startup crash was tuesday morning. Trashing temp files and rebooting didn't fix it, so I ran nwn2 update and the problem was solved. So thanks much for the bizarrely prompt patch. 
Now the only issue is that I have to carry the stupid play disc around with me. Hopefully certain factions which must not be mentioned (at risk of the dreaded Terms of Service  ) will perform their dark magics on 1.06.980 in the near future. |

IMO the whole point behind the last 2 patches was to force you to carry your "stupid play disk" around. |

I just bought the game and updated to the latest 1.068 or whatever. It acts like it's starting up then crashes. I've got well past the min. requirements. What could be wrong? |

FYI - I uninstalled and reinstalled. Version 1.000 works just fine. Please let us know when the fix is complete. |

it's simply a shame....this damnate securom it's useless and make a lot of damage to our play...what's the scope of this program? only to make the game more unplayable ('cause it's useless, with a simple miniimage u can bypass it)....and more, u have the cdkey check, why to use this securom? it's a shame in my pw our pc's cannot enter anymore due to crashes.....simply afwul..

I used to crash at startup. Then I put in the test EXE and I could play. Then I restored to the old version and ran the auto updater. It said I don't have anything to update. Now the game says "This version of NWN2 has expired. Please get a new version."
A brief period of being able to play, then back to nothing. |
