When installing MoTB, please use the following instructions:
1. Install NWN2 2. Patch NWN2 to the latest version (1.10 as of Sept. 29, 2007) 3. Install Mask of The Betrayer 4. Download and apply the hot fix for your language, listed below.

If you do not apply the hot fixes, when you attempt to play the game you will see sections of missing text and the Campaign name will say it is undefined. _________________ Don't let your life be about the donuts! |

I've heard people having problems installing MotB over the original nwn2 when they got 1.10 installed?
There was a guy recommending me installing it this way: 1. Install Neverwinter Nights 2. 2. Patch Neverwinter Nights 2 to 1.06. 3. Install Mask of the Betrayer.
Is there any truth to this? I've just bought the expansion and i want to be sure that i install it in the right way..Edited By Nitrius on 09/29/07 16:42 |

Hiya Rob
I have just downloaded the English version of the Hotfix which i need.
Does it need to be run in any particular Directory ? or from anywhere on the C: ?
Are there any special things i need to know about applying Hotfixes ? Or do i just go ahead and run the exe file from where i downloaded it to in a temp folder on the C: ?
I am just being cautious, I don't want to break anything.
All the Best ......Blade:) |

It should find your install directory automatically and put the files where they need to go.
It shouldn't matter where you run it from. _________________ Don't let your life be about the donuts! |

Followed the above and it worked.
Very fast to get a fix - many thanks!
Hopefully others will know to look in the forums for the fix or will you make it available through autopatcher?
Regards, Alex. |

Is there a certainty that this will happen if you just install MotB over a clean NWN2 install, or is this only recommended to eliminate the chance of this happening?
I appreciate the fix of course, but this is a little disappointing as I had hoped to reinstall NWN2 and install MotB on top of it without having to patch the base game first. I do appreciate the fix for the issue, though. _________________ Soul Forge - Persistent Worlds for NWN and NWN2 http://soulforge.nwvault.ign.com/

I've tested the following:
fresh NWN2 install (no patches, didn't even fire it up!) MotB over the top
works fine.
The only thing that needs/gets patched is autopatcher itself.
Cheers, Alex. |

Patching will ensure that the NWN2 OC gets fully patched. _________________ Don't let your life be about the donuts! |

Is it save to use auto-patcher, or is it still recommended to manually patch? |

This leaves me quite worried: In a year or so, NWN2 (without MotB) will be at version 1.15. You then decide to buy MotB, and make a reinstall of NWN2. By then, there will be no more patch 1.10 available to apply before the installation of MotB - and if there would be, we would still have to manually update NWN2 to version 1.06 first, by Selene's Tutorial, then manually uppdate to version 1.10, and then install MotB. Seems pretty cumbersome to me.
I had hoped that MotB would include all previous patches, in order to spare us this rather difficult and time-consuming process... Oh well _________________ Everything seems changed As if quietly replaced by something soulless |

I don't *think* you have to do the whole manual patching process at this point. From what I gather, you just have to install NWN2, run the autopatcher, which will automatically download and install every update up to 1.10, then install MotB, then the hotfix. However, I just thought it a bit time consuming to install, wait for the base game to completely patch first, then do MotB, then manually install another hotfix. I had hoped Mask would bring everyone up to a nice clean expansion version. _________________ Soul Forge - Persistent Worlds for NWN and NWN2 http://soulforge.nwvault.ign.com/

All the previews I read stated that the expansion was looking "highly polished"... what happened? _________________ - USB - Neverwinter Connections DM Hall of Fame Inductee: 12/07 - Northern Cormyr; an ongoing RP/MP campaign for NWN2 Click Here - Supporting the MW2 community boycott. |

Doesn't sound like an expansion problem, actually. Something in the patch is interfering with the install of the xpac, though. |
