Yes, that's right. In order to play on two PCs you need two accounts (on this web site) and two different CD keys. Else you get the message that the cd key is already in use.

Just asked Aspyr if they could let me know what kind of machines did they test on. I thoubt they'll tell me but maybe they'll get the hint about the patch and it's workmanship.

They also may say something else related to what is going on since a lot of us are sending them bug reports and questions as to what the heck is going on.

I can almost bet that if they are like anything out there for a standard gaming company, they had a beta test of 1,000 people and that was it... the problem is that they don't demand that specific system types to be filled... like 100 iMacs of all types that are intel, same with the towers... with different configurations, etc...

Hopefully things will get better soon, otherwise Aspyr may loose a lot of credibility, because as far as I can tell their PC side isn't much better on the buggy scale.

I'm surprised at the speed of the reply. OK folks. Though to a degree we should all know the answer to the question at hand. I also asked about the no DVD (disc) and how the PC doesn't have nor needs it now and I even asked them about the other titles of the NWN2 games MoTB, MoW, and SoZ. This is their reply.

Thank you for contacting Aspyr Tech Support!

We tested the beta patch along various specifications including but not limited
to:

Tiger/Leopard/Snow Leopard OS's
Intel Processors (various gHz)
iMac/Macbook/MacBook Pro
NVIDIA GeForce 7600, 8600

ATI Radeon X1600, X1900, HD 2400, HD 2600

The tests were successful and we urge our customers to submit support tickets so that we may resolve each issue as thoroughly as possible.

Regarding the required DVD to operate the game--this is a security feature required for many of our titles.

To address any other release inquiries, we continually evaluate games to be brought over to the platform, looking at several factors including its popularity, whether the Mac market is interested in the game, whether the company that owns the rights is interested in having a Mac version, and how hard it would be to port over (for example, if a game using the same software engine has already been ported, it becomes much easier for us to have it done). Our customers are one of the sources of determining interest, so we thank you for your mail.

So even though I'm not 100% happy with the remarks at least it wasn't a computer generated reply. So I guess if we keep sending in our reports and peeves to them we might just be able to swing a lot of good things our way. So with this, I will now be more open towards them. So lets show them our true numbers and finally get the correct patch out and remind them that since NWN2 for the PC has the feature of not needing the DVD any more, we need to have that if that's what we want, included in the patch as well.

Keep it up guys. I truly think that now they are listening to us.

I downloaded the 1.23 patch off the Aspyr website on my Macbook pro.
Everything seems to be working fine. i can play the game perfectly.
When i connected to multiplayer to play in an online server, it went into the autodownload normally. As soon as it finished downloading i would hit start and it would close out of the game. this happens every time i restart it.

If i want to play single player it works great though. Anyone else get this far?

Aqua, do you have MotB installed or do you have an untouched OC?

Untouched. And that is because i had absolutely no luck at all with MotB installed. I think when Aspyr created the update, they didn't do it with MotB in mind. My guess is with the added characters and classes it doesn't work with their update.

I have some exciting news indeed!

I have successfully been able to connect and play online with other pc users now. The only scenario in which i was unable to connect is when i needed the SoZ update. I played on servers that were hosting just levels from the original campaign. I must say...I haven't been this excited about this game in an extremely long time. I've had absolutely no troubles with this update outside of trying to connect to a server that requires SoZ capabilities.

Everyone else able to do any of this?

I'm glad you're excited, which also excites me!
I will try the patch on an untouched copy of the OC and if it works as well as you say then I too will be extremly excited. Now, where will I find the time for another fresh install...

Btw, did you update to 1.12 first and then to 1.23 or did you go straight to 1.23?

I went straight to 1.23, I was able to connect and play on a server called DungeonEternalx I talked with one of the designers and he's an extremely nice fellow. i would recommend anyone to his server. its under the action category .

It's running beautifully. I'm very satisfied.
Everyone needs to reinstall the game and go straight to 1.23 from an untouched copy. i have a Macbook pro and it runs perfectly.

I was also able to upgrade an untouched NWN2 with the patch. It does seems more stable on snow leopard although I did get a crash entering the castle in crossroads keep. I also has missing textures for unconscious characters(this was in the Wendersneven forest).

How about the missing textures and knockout face images? No crashing, etc?

I've played up to neverwinter when you get to the sunken flagon. So far no problems, but as i mentioned the server online, DungeonEternalx, runs smoothly. Also the guy who runs it really caters towards macs. We talked for a few hours last night about the situation. he's altering a lot of the textures and various classes to work with Macs 1.23 situation.
I would suggest sticking to classes from the OC to avoid any crashes.

As far as the original campaign, I haven't experienced any problems yet.

Make sure you don't update to the previous mac patch before 1.23!

- So aquamankilla, what you are saying is that this Beta patch's ADL works, you can log onto PWs/MPs, as long as they do not have SoZ... But can you log on if the module is running MotB? Have you tried?

- I'm asking because Europa uses OC & MotB aspects...I will NOT be upgrading to 1.24 for Win when it comes out because I WANT mac players to join if they want... BUT, if they can't log on anyways BECAUSE of MotB...then what the hell!!! (inter-scriptum: can you test it see if you can log onto Europa?)

- Also, you are saying that a clean install, then direct to the new beta patch is the way to go? Has anyone tried/succeeded in installing MotB after that ???

Erik.

Yes it works as long as the SoZ expansion isn't being run with it.
I have not yet tried downloading the MotB disc to the 1.23 update.
I do know that there is a way to run things from MotB and SoZ on a server but override them allowing everyone to join, I'm not sure how though. You might try contracting the guy who runs DungeonEternal. I know he's doing it.

Please let me know if i can join Europa to help test it for you, I've heard so much about it from you and I'm very eager to experience it. Thanks.

Then in all honesty the patch is a flop because it bombs with expansions attached to it.... right?
