Game Version: SoZ 1.023(1765)(Final) Game Language: English Retail or Digital: Retail DVD Processor Manufacturer: Intel Processor Type: Core 2 Duo E8400 Processor Speed: 3.0 Ghz Operating System: Windows 7 Professional (problem existed with Vista Enterprise SP1) System RAM: 3 gigs Video Card Manufacturer: Nvidia Video Card Model: GeForce 9800GTX+ Video Card RAM: 512 megs Video Card Driver Version: 191.07 Sound Card Manufacturer: Realtek (mobo audio on DFI Lanparty DK P35) Sound Card Model: ALC885 Sound Card Driver Version: Microsoft High Definition Audio Device 6.1.7600.16385 (7/13/2009)
I'm not hearing some of the sound. I've got all the music, and during conversations I've got sound for all of the characters. But in combat, all I've got is music. I'm not getting any character voices, no monster sounds, no spell sounds, and no weapon sounds. This is true whether I pick Direct Sound 3D 7, Miles fast 2D, or RAD game tools RSX 3D audio. If I try to click either of the EAX options nothing happens (ie, the boxes won't "x").
Is this an uncommon issue? I did do a search before posting, and the only other sound issues I could see were from people with no sound at all. |

Hi Mike,
I Opened my Audio for NWN2 and by clicking the EAX choices it should automatically put an X in the bottom EAX choices for you. Any of the other sound choices will uncheck them.
I have SB Audigy2 ZS card and it supports EAX if your card doesn't then those choices won't be availible or may cause bugs if choosen.
You Didn't mention if you tried all the availible options in game play audio, I have 8 choices for sound. Another thing is that I wouldn't expect all driver updates to work. EG, I know that I can update my sound card Via Sound Blaster Site or Auto Updates but for whatever reason that new update causes havoc with my Audigy ZS so I have to keep the original driver that I always had.
Something else you can try, is to go into your sound card control panel and mute any input that won't effect your default sound. Also if you are set up for 5.1 or more depending on your card it may not be true 6.1, 7.1 it may mix the signal to your rear sats etc. Might look into that as well. Also check in your OS sound options, in control panel and sound, look in advanced and see if your desktop sound is the same, I have 5.1 so I would check the same for desktop, not the desktop stereo.
I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with the inner workings of Realtech Audio so you'll have to check if these suggestions are similar.
Well let use know how you made out,
Cheers! Ambrose |

Well, those three options I mentioned in my first post are the only three sound options that appear for me. And, like I said, whenever I click one of the EAX options nothing happens. No X's will go into the boxes.
After screwing around with it for awhile, I actually fixed the issue by picking the Direct Sound 3D option, then turning the 2D/3D Bias all the way to 3D side. |

Yeah... it's just too bad that I figured it out just in time to put NWN2 back on the shelf for awhile while I play Dragon Age: Origins. |

Hi Mike,
Yeah, I just picked mine up yesterday, However I have a game going right now. And as bad as I like to I'm the type that has to finish what I start befor I move on.
I did install DA and DL'd some Free content, played around with the character creator but haven't saved anything yet.
Thought it was going to be buggy right from the start, seemed to lock up on me at the intro, had to reboot a couple times. I figure my security was on an auto update because now everything seems to work fine.
Well Mike, enjoy and maybe I'll be chatting with you on the BSN, had to change my name as someone already took mine for these forums. If you care my new alias is going to be: Wil SilverHeart.
Cheers! Ambrose |
