I posted up on my blog at the weekend about a new project I'm working on and hopefully made some headway into already. It's based on the classic D&D module White Plume Mountain, reimagined and set in the Serpent hills and High Moor of Faerun. It also incorporates the two sequel adventures - Return to White Plume Mountain, and Ex Keraptis Cum Amore - to complete the saga. It will start at Level 7, and probably encompass at least 10 levels progression.

The module will use an overland map and allow for free-form exploration to find any of the ~15 sidequests. I'm not building the story-/companion- driven stuff I've done before - this work will allow for party creation or multiplayer, and the main plot can be tackled as much or as little as you want. (Multi)players looking for an afternoon's adventure for level 16 PCs? Just ignore the main plot and go seek out one of the sidequests instead. I'm trying to capture a D&D feel of exploration and monster killing, with good skill use in- and out of dialogue.

More detail and screenies on the blog. The main plot areas are finished and 70% scripted, and the sidequests are being worked on. I might end up releasing the main campaign and then update with new additional sidequests as things progress and depending on interest. Anyone interested in building a 3-5 area sidequest, let me know. I'm hoping to be testing early in the new year.

Keraptis lives!

I saw this announcement yesterday. Awesome. This has become one of the most anticipated modules for me.

Search ye far or search ye near... I have such fond memories of White Plume Mountain.

Hehe, Keraptis does indeed live. Tho he never makes an appearance in any of the WPM-based adventures, I'm retelling them to culminate in a showdown with the riddle-writing wierdo

Sounds very interesting. Kinds of features I like to see.

I'll be watching this one.

Once you thought you were out, the toolset pulled you back in.

It's gonna be awesome!

Drooool....I can't remember a single part of the module except that it was one of the first modules I played and had one of my favorite covers. I really really hope you can get someone to create that monster on the cover

Really looking to replay a flash from my childhood. I remember playing this in a tent with some friends when I was really young (probably less than 10 years old when it came out). That's about all I rememeber.

So Wave, Whelm, and Blackrazor are intelligent weapons.... How is that going to be handled?

NEAT!

I have a vague recollection of this one too.

I especially like that you can skip to and play sub-portions of the module.

I might end up releasing the main campaign and then update with new additional sidequests as things progress and depending on interest.
I am interested in how you are going to make that work.

At the moment that's on hold as i focus on other areas - it's a 'nice to have'. I've got some of the basics set up for treating them according to the Weapons of Legacy rules, but I'll probably skip that and give them some one liners that randomly occur on use in combat#

Placeholder locations and capaign conversations i can amend as new content is created. It's a maybe depending on how things progress - but there's still going to be at least 12 sidequests on release anyway.

I thought you'd figured out how to allow multiple authors to link their work together. After all there's now the faerun overland map which you inspired.

With some naming conventions and someone to oversee the worldmap/campaign folder, having self contained modules by multiple authors on the same worldmap seems possible.

At least one has green eyebrows. We'll see if that raises any...

Looks good. I like that many modders are making these open ended adventure modules--SOZ did good.

Haha... Wyrin, if you ever find a good modding rehab clinic, email me, okay?

The mod sounds good though. Keep it up; I like the screenshots and concept, even though it's a "simple" conversion. I read what you said on your blog about the evil nemesis being in the background... if you feel that you should change elements of the P&P game, then I think you should. No one will give you a hard time if you make it better, IMO.
